Office 365 Direct Editing
Allow for integration with Office365 for document editing.
This would allow for true integration between Procore and Office 365 for direct document editing. Office 365 Documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, others) which are stored in Procore should be directly editable by clicking on them in the web browser, which will then open the document in a web-editing mode.
This feature is currently available on competing platforms (Bim3360 Docs and Aconex).
This could be extended to the iOS/Android applications, and also via a plugin for the desktop versions of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
Soon users will be able to edit their office files without leaving their browser by sending them to Office 365 to edit and save their changes to Procore.
Stay tuned and thank you for your feedback!

Office 365 editing should be available now in your Sandbox project, and I believe full GA (General Availability) is coming very very soon.
To confirm - this will be for MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
@Emma Paulin - I am not sure how check in/out functions will work. However the editing process will happen in Office 365 online, which is occurs within your Office 365 controlled environment and users would need to sign into Office 365 as far as I understand.

Can you turn off ms check in/out functionality. I prefer to only keep direct editing capability, due to our organisation using an alternative file storage to one drive.

Update on this please?

When will this be functional? We were told when we purchased Procore that the document tool allowed us to work on excel and word documents within Procore Drive. I agree with Trent Bonnett being able to save to a different name and a different project would be great.

Any update on the release of this functionality? We were really excited to see it at GroundBreak and would love an update!

Does this mean iOS also if we have the word/excel app on our ipad?
Trent Bonnett commented
Hopefully this will allow for documents to be opened and Saved as a different name. This would allow us to have templates saved in Procore Drive that can be used for new letters and correspondence.

do we have any idea as to when this feature will be released?
Jason De Wit commented
Other apps can do it so I know Procore can pull this off !!

Completely agree!!!! Excel should be linked to Procore and office 365

If you opened up one of the documents would you be able to use the save as function to save a copy in the documents tool? What about changing file types? e.g. saving an excel as a pdf
Push New excel files straight to document tool on Procore similar to the outlook add on

Agreed! Check out a similar idea I submitted for iOS... https://feedback.procore.com/forums/183340-customer-feedback-for-procore-technologies-inc/suggestions/37535908-open-office-open-and-save-back-office-365-document

Obvious typo... "Bim360 Docs" was the referenced product.
